Cloudy with sunny spells they say. With it being so close to sunset anyway the animals and birds won't be so affected which is good.
By sheer coincidence I was going through a box of VHS tapes and found my recording of the 1999 UK total eclipse and managed to capture it to my PC.
Here it is.
Dull and overcast so not a lot to see here.
Quite cloudy here in Escobar . If it stays like this we will be watching it on TV
Certainly a lot less overcast here with the sun making an appearance every ten minutes....heck of a wind has got up though.
My mind however is more concentrated in going to Dia where they have an offer of 3 cans of St Wendeler Negra for 100 pesos today.
I went out on the bike, but there were too many buildings to see the sun, really.
Anyway, it went dark for a few minutes, but it was difficult to discern as it was only ten minutes before sunset anyway.
It was predictable that this solar eclipse will not be visible at least in BA region. That is because it was too late, after 5:00 PM, and the sun was too low. Also it was cloudy. Neither the effect of couble shading could be appreciated, as there were no direct rays from the sun falling in the trees leaves.
The only thing that I noted was that some obscurity came at 5.30 PM and then the light improved at 5:45 PM, a rare fact if an eclipse will not be in course.
It turned out better than I thought despite the cloud. We were in the Movistar shop buying a phone when the sky went totally black. A short time later 'dawn' started....not fully, but there was blue sky in the distance where minutes before it was dark.
One thing I observed was the mass of starling type black birds which come into town to roost at night arrived much earlier than they should have. After doing their acrobatic display in the air they settled down in the trees. When it began to get light again they started flying about but just stayed in town which I was glad to see.
To be honest from what I saw not many people were bothered by the eclipse.
