Sometimes Serafina stares at the drain. We found out that a cricket hides there from time to time. Don't ask me how a cricket can get to the 2nd floor.

Your cricket must be a very talented jumper, serafina . And it found a great hiding place!

Probably, but who knows what goes through a cat's mind?

Our two cats tore one of those to pieces the other day and all I could do was watch!

I hope Panda doesn’t teach Floyd those thieving ways. Bad enough to have a cat burglar coming in from your roof; quite another thing to have one or two sleeping at your feet.

Hello. Any suggestions on good pet stores to buy Inaba Churu creamy snacks (prefer in packs of 50) and arena/litter for cats? in CABA area. Ideally we would like to have corn based cat litter but on our last visit we didn't see any. Alternatively clay litter works but we tried to introduce silica gel but our cat didn't like it. Thank you.

I just wanted to report back on Churu snacks. I brought over two packs from Europe and Serafina loves the meat-based ones, but not so much the fish-based ones.

    Still not sold in Argentina!

As for corn-based litter, still not sold here, either. And we had to switch the pellet litter to the clumping clay one because Serafina was not happy about it. The clumping clay is a pain to manage: dust, grain of clay in the bathroom and it smells like a dead mouse after two weeks. But she loves it!

We tried the wood pellets litter which eventually turns to sawdust but the cats then tread it everywhere!

I loved the wood smell, our bathroom smelled like a Ikea store for the first day or two. However, Serafina didn't like to pee in there more than once, even if I cleaned her litter daily removing the pee-soaked sawdust. After the first no. 1+2 usage, she limited her usage to no. 2 and did no. 1 anywhere else in the bathroom (bidet, shower) or outside in the plant pots.

With this dirty clay, she rolls into it like a pig, then she pees and poos and mark it as "safe for use by Serafina" doing at least no. 1 once.

It is a pain to scoop and she leaves small grains of clay when she exit the litter box. Which we then step over and that get soaked with wet drops from the sink. It is a nightmare to me, but she loves it.

Not to mention when I wash my face in the morning, and with my skin still wet I get to scoop her litter and think about the dust clumping on my face. Unfortunately, there is no other place for her litterbox but under the sink in the bathroom.

We have been using the StoneCat brand for many years. The only kind we have used after a quick test of the more common types found here. It is clumping type made of bentonite mineral (clay). I do not find it too dusty though it does get kicked onto the floor outside the box. I guess it is not environmentally super with the usual impacts of any mining, including an eyesore somewhere in Argentina. Really the cat prefers the outside sand and dirt, except on the cold or rain days, which we dig up quickly because of the smell in the yard .

We are currently using CanCat. I remember buying a nicer brand many years ago - maybe TidyCat? - which was not as dusty as this one. It was expensive compared to local brands as I believe it is imported.

This CanCat bag costs around 10,000 pesos and lasts 3-4 weeks

This is the one I bought once in the past.

Update: I was browsing on ML for Tidy Cats and I found a different litter that I will try. There was a comment from 2023 that said that it is the best one since Tidy Cat is no longer available in Argentina.
