Spam attacks

As some of you may have noticed, we had a large spam attack last night, in spite of measures to minimise such attacks. All the spam threads have now been removed, the user IP blacklisted and deleted.

However, we may have to limit the number of new threads that can be created in a given time. i.e five new threads by a new member in the space of a minute would ring alarm bells.

For the moment, all new member registrations will need to be approved by admin. This is to minimise the amount of spam bots that have been getting through recently.

The intention was to have the first two posts/threads by a new member to be approved by admin, so until that is put in place, new registrations will have to be approved.
