How could we have missed Silent Witness on Prime? There are 21 seasons! Starting it now, and after just one season, we are COMPLETELY hooked. Amanda Burton plays a brilliant pathologist who is willing to step on toes (not the cadavers’) in order to do the right thing for victims.

Thoroughly enjoyed Official Secrets which tells of how GCHQ employee, Katharine Gun, leaked a secret NSA memo to the press. The memo was from a US defence chief suggesting that certain UN member states should be pressured and spied upon in order to vote on the UN resolution to invade Iraq.
An unusually gritty performance from Keira Knightley and if you don't know the story, it's definitely worth waiting right until the very end.

Glad to have a new recommendation, as we have become bogged down on Prime and are looking for something new.
We were watching Silent Witness, maybe season 7, when suddenly we were instructed that if we wanted to continue watching, we had two options: rent or buy each future episode.
That tactic seems shabby to me. Either you pay for a subscription or you don’t. But after paying, you shouldn’t be hit for more money, especially in the middle of a series you’ve been watching. I applaud Netflix for not doing that. -
-
That is truly shabby, along with them starting a new series at season four, for example.
Tossers.

I watched this for awhile on Prime, but then started watching Jack Ryan. Prime could do better with their programming, instead of having to rent or buy.

Watching this tonight and it looks fascinating. Just my cup of tea.

Watched Kevin Costner’s Yellowstone a few weeks ago. Never quite decided which were the good guys and which were the bad. But this series included something for everyone: big ranch, incorrigible cowboys, determined patriarch, rich, misfit siblings including a ruthless, alcoholic nymphomaniac sister.

Lorena
(2019)Overview
This four-part docuseries investigates the events of 1993, where Lorena Bobbitt sliced off her husband's penis after years of abuse. John and Lorena Bobbitt's stories exploded into a 24-hour news cycle. She became a national joke, her suffering ignored by the male-dominated press. But as John spiraled downward, Lorena found strength in the scars of her ordeal. Read moreGenres

I'm watching Lorena, the woman who cut off her husband's penis. Painful to watch at times and it reveals some very interesting facts, not least that when the appendage was found by the side of the road, most of the policemen wouldn't pick it up.
There are also counter accusations of repeated violent assaults from both sides.
Brings tears to your eyes at times and not through sadness, but through imagining how it must have felt.

Lorena Bobbit provided much material for late-night comedians and Halloween costumes at the time. We have a musician friend who even wrote a song about the incident.
But dealing with it in a serious way is a different thing altogether. Not sure I’d have the courage to watch the movie.

Last night I watched Adrift, a true story of survival in a wrecked yacht in the Pacific Ocean which I thoroughly enjoyed. Beautifully filmed with real passion. So much so that I felt I was there in the burning sun and endless sea.

We’re trapped in the endless Reign, set in the 16th century French Court. Only 4 seasons, but each has about 20 episodes. Stabbings, poisonings, steamy scenes, palace intrigue. I’m starting to crave something more tranquil.

Don't see that on Prime
Oops, it's on Netflix but not down here yet. Is that the one where Mary is black and lesbian?

No, but it might as well be!

As a history lesson, I found it fascinating (apart from a few goofs) and who else could play this part so well but George C Scott? It gets a little soapy and lovey dovey in places and I have to ask why David Suchet and Gabriel Byrne, both playing Italian characters, speak with American accents? Suchet is English and Byrne is Irish!
It's definitely worth watching for the tragedy that it is and makes you wonder what would have happened if Mussolini hadn't aligned Italy with Nazi Germany.

It’s hard for me to think of David Suchet speaking with anything but Poirot’s Belgian accent.
He was a wonderful actor.

Last night I watched USS Indianapolis, the warship sunk by a Japanese submarine in WW11. A tragic event made worse by the secrecy surrounding her passage to Guam and the court marshall of her captain following the rescue of survivors from the shark-infested waters off the Philippines.
At times very harrowing, especially the bizarre sight of Captain Mc Vay being hauled in front of a court marshall when the powers that be simply needed a scapegoat.
USS Indianapolis: Survivor Accounts From the Worst Sea Disaster in U.S. Naval History'There were a lot of sharks,' says one of the survivors. 'So many.'www.history.com -
I suffered through about 15 minutes of the first episode of Fleabag but couldn't take any more camera talking, i.e. the fourth wall when the lead talks mainly to the camera.
Neither am I prudish, but the humour was in the effing toilet and not even funny. And there's sex in it, but it's not even sexy. It's just like you left the bathroom without washing your hands.
Complete crap and I don't understand what all the fuss is about. And it's supposed to be comedy but I didn't even smirk.

Thanks for the warning. Sounds like a good one to miss.

I only watch BBC World on the telly....the missus is the TV fanatic so I'm very ignorant about such things. Do you pay extra to watch Amazon and Netflix or are they included in your package?
We seem to have more than enough channels to watch as it is even if you watched the box 24/7.
