In spite of an earlier statement that there may be an indefinite delay to the trial of the ex-president, the supreme court has now confirmed that the trial will begin next Tuesday.

Don't hold your breath though -this could rumble on for years or not at all.

I too think that it will start 'just for show' and then it will take anyway too long to bring a useful outcome.

Maybe it was postponed because the judges don't want to be killed.

Believe it when I see it......she'll probably get a doctors note saying she's unfit to attend. Due to having a dose of the flu instead of the truth....being mentally unstable.

    From Mercopress

    Display Spoiler

    https://en.mercopress.com/2019/05/17/cri…tm_campaign=rss

And from TN, who do love the whole drama:

    • The trial will last about a year
    • There will be about 160 witnesses, including Alberto Fernández, Sergio Massa, Aníbal Fernández, Juan Manuel Abal Medina y Jorge Capitanich (all the usual suspects and specifically requested by CFK)
    • She will have to attend every single sitting as requested.
    • She'll be sharing the bench with Lazaro 'Look at my cars' Baez, Julio 'The Don' de Vido, José 'Get thee to a nunnery' López, Santiago Carlos Kirchner cousin of Nestor who once ran a humble paint shop in Santa Cruz and Abel Fatala - deputy to Jose Lopez.

There's no denying that this trial is hugely political and I have no doubt that the Macri administration leant on the judiciary to push this trial forward, especially since the timing is crucial with general elections coming up in October.

TN have come up with a handy graphic showing where everyone will be sitting and who will be present at the trial - popcorn time for Macri and the lads, no doubt.

Also, if you can follow the Spanish, here's Leuco with his unbiased opinion on CFK, who he believes is in a falling star fantasy.

The thought of Cristina makes me need a “wee scotch.” And I don’t even like scotch.

You can follow the trial live on YouTube if you have a year to spare and nothing else to do.

No, but she is impeccably groomed. A poodle wary of the Westminster dog show.

Judge wants former Argentine president arrested yet again

Why do I get the feeling that this won't come to anything?

It doesn't even get a mention in the BBC News Latin America section which says a lot.

Maybe I should have looked in the entertainment section.

Good for Bonadio, who will still be trying when he has one foot in the grave. This is going nowhere, but he continues to remind people that she SHOULD be behind bars.

What is the “medical” situation that keeps Florencia in Cuba? Drug addiction?

I think it is depression, or something else mental that cannot be proved.

As far as I know, she is the only member of the family who doesn't have immunity, hence her stay in Cuba. I'm also not sure if she has now separated from her husband or whether her child is with her.

She's been put in an unenviable position by her mother, but that doesn't give me any urges to sympathise with any single member of her family. Florencia will have known, hence the millions in her bank account.
