My feeling is that id the numbers in January get worse, there will be a very severe lockdown.
But with military control in the big conurbations.
That is my hunch

I don't think that Argentina has a military force big enough and prepared enough to deal with it. The ghost of the dictatorship is still alive here, and over the years they did everything possible to dismantle the military force as much as possible.
I too think that in late Autumn we will see another huge lockdown. I am considering enrolling into school just to have something to invest while locked up.
I got married twice in three days to my missus in Argentina. No wonder the country's in a mess!!

Once wasn't enough????

Ha ha. How did that happen?

Seemingly a church wedding wasn't enough back then. A suited civil servant pen pusher had to do it. No idea if it's still the same or not.

All to do with a civil wedding being recognised for official purposes whereas a church wedding wasn't. No idea if that's still the same or not.

It is still the same. In Argentina, religious weddings have no legal value.

I thought it very strange at the time but just went with the flow. The church wedding was definitely the bigger occasion of the two.
We went a to a wedding where the couple had already been married twice - once in the registry office and then a church. The part we went to was the country wedding.
I'm not sure I could tolerate that much ceremony.
Update:
Since we were receiving zero cooperation from Vicente Lopez municipality/registry office, we broadened our net and made some changes which gave us the choice of CABA as well.
Turns out that we can't even get a date in BA city even though I know people are getting married. It's a brick wall everywhere we go.
Frustrated doesn't quite describe how we feel and what with the spectre of a winter lockdown looming...
#Splinter , I think you may have to log on at 00.01 to get a time in CABA.
That's highly likely. I'll give that a try.
It's not that I've been dragging my feet or anything, but keeping up the rhythm on this has been challenging.
Anyway, it's proved impossible to get an appointment online or even in person, so I left it and got on with life. Then, the other day I decided to give it another go, went to the CABA website and discovered that the presentation of documents for those divorced in other countries is now done digitally which is kind of a relief.
I've now scanned everything, wrapped it all in a nice pretty PDF and hope to send it all off tomorrow. Could this be the final hurdle?
🤞🤞🤞
The steps to send everything digitally were many but in the end fairly straightforward, even though I had to do it through the CABA website because we plan to marry in CABA because the province proved too difficult and/or disorganised. Besides, Adri has her DNI in CABA, se we could choose one or the other.
I've now submitted all the PDFs of scanned documents, which took me forever to acquire in the first place, so here's hoping that a human won't decide to pick holes in them.
Maddeningly slow, but progress nonetheless!
Well they are certainly on the case and looked at the application this morning first thing as yesterday was a holiday.
I've sent them more scans of documents and am hoping that the sworn statement (DDJJ) I just sent is the last cog in the machine.
By the way, I first went to the British Embassy for assistance on this one back in May 2019.
So glad there’s finally some action!
Last night at about seven thirty they sent me a bill for $450 which I immediately paid online, leaving me with the impression that all is approved.
I'll now ask what the next steps are and update this thread as necessary...
