I used to live near Elephant and Castle in London and the 60s shopping centre will soon be torn down. Will the community spirit survive?
I always thought the E&C was a pub?

We've visited Eastnor Castle near Ledbury, Herefordshire and it is truly spectacular. Here's a very interesting article by the Hereford Times.
An Englishman's Castle: through the keyhole at Eastnor Castle
Have you seen this place, Splinter ? I wonder if they installed 20th century heating?

I LOVE those! Do you know anything about the origins of the names?

Ham just happens to be near Sandwich, Kent, but I don't know about the others.
There's a place in Yorkshire called Idle where there's the Idle Working Men's Club.

I am really curious to know about Wibbly Wobbly Lane. (Near a pub?)
The Idle Working Men’s Club is certainly nice, though.

Must admit during all my years stravaiging about Scotland the least memorable times were spent in the borders. I never really took to the scenery which I thought was mostly dull and boring.

I once spent the night in my car on Shap Summit because of the snow. Not recommended.

I remember the old Shap road well when I was a boy....it had quite a reputation before the motorway was built.

Yip , if you are from Glasgow , why go to the borders when you have the Trossachs only half an hour away. the scenery close to Glasgow is simply the best in Scotland.
