it will achieve an extra long weekend, as is the case with most of these strikes conveniently around holidays

While they like to use general terms like “govt economic policies, falling wages, and the rights of retirees,” do they ever get more specific?

WHICH economic policies? WHOSE falling wages? WHICH rights of retirees? (And Union wages only? Union retirees only?)

All very last century. No wonder the country's still an economic basket case.

What’s the monthly subscription fee for that Union to represent workers’ best interests?

    What a country.

I wonder if it's a case of 'pay up or else' here?

They chose the wrong day because Good Friday is the following week.

Been looking at the MIL's street webcam in the centre of town and was surprised to see the street as busy as normal with people and cars. I'd expected it to be deserted. :scratchead:

Most people who can get to work are carrying on as normal, although it has helped me to get on with carpentry jobs at home.

Yes that's what the missus said. All the large supermarket chains here are operating under normal hours. I suppose it's just the areas of work the bully-boy unions are active in that's affected.
