It's crept back up to $218 at midday today.

Do you really get that value when it oscillates so quickly?
At my cueva, they are pretty conservative and reply with a laconic "it will go down this evening" etc.

I get it from here:

My question was different: are you really able to exchange at the value shown on ambito? My cueva does not honor that value if it moves too quickly.

We don't use cuevas any more and split the difference with friends and family, so we would sell dollars at around $216.

According to TN, the dollar is now at $221 but I have no idea what is driving this.

In our Barrio , buyers and sellers contact each other via the Whatsapp Group - The general agreement is to accept the mid rate from La Nacion.
Seems to work pretty well.

Many are predicting $300 by the end of the year, but I think it will probably be sooner.

Good grief. I hope inflation doesn’t keep up with the Blue. My test case is a liter of milk, which usually seems to cost $1 US, no matter the exchange rate. What is it now?

A litre of milk is around $120 now.

So it appears to be keeping pace with the official, not blue rate. I’m glad for the people.

I got some KitKats yesterday that were on a 2 for 1 offer which gave a more realistic price. Never a dull moment when shopping here....my mathematic skills have certainly improved over recent years.

A kilogram of soft cheese is about 3,50 dollars nowadays
A kilogram of good beef is about 5 dollars,
a Liter of Gasoline is about 0,55 dollars
All considering that 215 is the dollar quotarion nowadays.

As you will remember, Carlos , those prices are far lower than in the US. But it is the people earning in pesos that are important, and about whom I worry.
Yes, that is right, Wages here are lower than in the US, I am a typical member of the medium upper class nowadays I spent 900 dollars per months, all included.
Of course, I do not pay rent of my home, and the taxes of my car are not high due to its age (9 years). But I do not want to purchase a new one, because they will give me a traditional car, almost equal to my own. For a really new car I understand an electric or mixed motor-electric car, and those car are here very expensive.
And, as you may know, the higher is the value of your car, the higher are the insurance and taxes for having it..

The employed, even those with manual jobs seem to be okay. The freeloaders can F*** off as far as I'm concerned as the elderly and infirm are the ones I most worry about.
