This has been going on for many a year. It's no surprise as many big cat owners (pumas mostly I believe) either keep quiet when they escape because they shouldn't have had them in the first place.or just let them go free if they no longer want them.
For the record. The only true wild cat in the UK is to be found in Scotland. It's not much bigger than your household moggie.
