Adri's lad had a number plate stolen off his car, resulting in two new plates being required. Why? Because they have to insert a 'D' into the plate, to indicate it's a duplicate.
Cost?
AR$2100 for two plates, thanks very much. Fuckers.
Anyway, the plates are just screwed in place into the plastic bumpers, with flimsy screws about half an inch long. Easy to steal if you have a screwdriver handy.
I had intended to use 2" bolts with nyloc locking nuts, but access behind the bumpers was impossible. In the end I found four 2" screws with hex heads lurking in my toolbox and fitted the plates with those, meaning that the potential tea leaf would need to be carrying a spanner with him in future. Uhm, they probably do anyway.
In fact, the car is only 18 months old, he's had the spare wheel stolen twice, the driver's door forced and bust three times and the car has been dinged by other cars about four times. Like it's got a target on it.
he's very popular down at the insurance company.
