I recently enjoyed Ann Patchett’s Tom Lake. Patchett’s books keep me engaged, and I’m looking forward to her next one, an annotated version of her 2001 novel Bel Canto, which kept me spellbound from start to finish.
Today I read a NYT opinion column she wrote, in which she highly recommends "This Is Happiness" by Niall Williams, set in a small Irish town upon the arrival of electricity.
