  • what a year in history......Britain leaves EU after decades, prince abandon the ship with an African b actor..... hahaha.....!

    Year just started....what's next?

  • UK Man .....im totally same opinion!

I'm not British, so for me it does not really make a difference, but I think it good!

The thing is this: it's like the general believe that ALWAYS, bigger, more, extended, open, together bla bla bla is better! It's not true!!! I could imagine many countries that would be better off by not being in huge groups of other countries. On top those countries have a lot more financial tools and ways of maneuvering.

Good examples are small/medium sized companies, perfect functioning, suddenly being taken over and later ending in the gutter. Also f.ex. the decision of NOT being part of the monetary Union, just like Denmark and Norway f.ex., have turned out a quite wise decision for those countries.

But it's hard to explain, because the world have become so huge and united, for better and for worse.

One of the worst ever thoughts I have witnessed, was the idea of Turkey becoming part of EU.......by luck it's on standby now.....but it was very close to happening! Imagine how things would be now if they had entered......horror!!!!!!

  • Yes Jan...not that I can claim to know much about it, intuition tells me membership of the EU has got out of hand and the 'top' countries are suffering because of it.

I got the feeling Britian weren't fully committed to it anyway hence why they kept the £. In the end the public said enough was enough and I think they were right. It'll probably be a bit of a dog's breakfast at the start however I'm confident it'll be for the best. I think others will follow once they see how well it all turns out.

  • the leave of UK now put whole Europe in the spot.....my old boss always claimed EU wouldn't last....I guess he was right!

The German media, (die welt), is now getting annoyed with Macron, which I always considered a charlatan......they say France are make a lot of demands but is not willing to give any in return (France is in deep trouble).....I fully agree! With UK leaving, EU is ending....

  • if Germany just mention that EU might come to an end, it ends!!!! Still they have not mentioned....let's see....

  • Argentines think THEY have a corner on the non-worker market. But doesn’t every country face that problem?

Probably, but what I can't understand is our millionaire politicians waging their mouth about socialism, while making their fortune,

embracing capitalism. The water is really getting murky.

Always wondered what happens here if you're unemployed. Do they get money?

They can draw unemployment compensation, for awhile. In all the years I was working, I never received any compensation.

daniel , you’ve hit on one of the big economic problems of the 21st century in the US: politicians pushed through tax legislation heavily weighted towards benefiting the top 0.001%, who of course have funded those politicians’ campaigns. Whether they yammer on about socialism or brag about what successful capitalists they have been (through not paying taxes), it comes down to this:the country is descending into a Me First mentality.

As for unemployment benefits, in the US, all earners pay into the unemployment insurance program, but I don’t know how this works in Argentina, which I think is what UK Man was mentioning.

  • Apologies for double posting. The day the British people voted to leave the EU, we were staying in a hotel in the US. While enjoying cocktail hour in the lobby and discussing the news with other guests, we heard a woman loudly proclaiming that Brexit had nothing to do with any of us. Her ignorance was so profound that I still wonder how she could have been so sheltered.

This article looks into Brexit’s potential impact on other countries.

Was she British or just pissed?
