Could someone explain how 81% turnout is good, in a country with mandatory voting? Who are the 19% who get away with not voting? Aren’t there consequences?

Splinter ....
U really take me serious????
Hahaha
The 🤡 is already in the process of creating a program for the young and lazy, who don't wanna study or work......(not a joke)....... that's for sure a good way to fight powerty and keep people stupid and lazy at the same time! If we are lucky they will even reproduce in all their free time and make sure that the coming generation will share same great values!
And on top a young legislator, hardcore Peronist with 8 years experience was just elected.....she has been a big fan of Peronists since her 11 year.....now she is 19!!!!!
How can any of that be wrong?????

'Economy' 150gr bag of instant Nescafe was 280 pesos in La Anonima today...same item in Dia was 180. Crazy price difference although not unusual.
Seems to me the first job for managers in La Anonima every Monday is to raise the price of everything by at least 10%.

I imagine some of those might be the elderly/insane etc.etc. No idea if you have to prove it or not though.
We took my 83 year old mother in law to vote. They did ask my wife if she could walk in from the car but when told with great difficulty even with the aid of a zimmer frame (being stubborn and overweight doesn't help) a chap came out to the car with the voting paper, envelope and ballot box. The were all very nice about it. Even the police girls who guided us into the parking space kept outside the gate for the disabled were very chatty while we waited.

What a heartwarming story, UK Man ! The helpful attitude of those voter aid volunteers is exemplary, and reinforces my long-held feeling that the people here are exceptional.
(You have just taught me a new term: Zimmer frame. I recognized it as the device I've always just called a walker, of course, but the term Zimmer frame is SO much more interesting!)

That's the thing with Argentines. They are incredibly courteous and very, very respectful of the elderly, which is something I really admire.

I do too. I've observed that respect for the elderly - grandparents as well as strangers - is alive and well here, whereas it is dead and buried in much of the first world.
It is lovely to see children and teenagers enjoying the company of their older relatives, without a hint of condescension or impatience.

You make a fair point Rice . The UK voter turnout in 2017 was 68% and voting is not compulsory in the UK.
And it's interesting how the economy lags behind other issues in the upcoming UK election o December 12th.

I'm impressed by the UK voter turnout, across the years. Here's the pathetic turnout for US elections (note the big difference between presidential and midterm elections):

Trump voters tend to take voting more seriously!!!!!
Here I think low voting percentage would help the country also.......hahaha

I suspect you're right. Those who ride a motorbike and don't wear a crash helmet shouldn't be allowed to vote.

Interesting that in the US, voter turnout was better in 2018 than in any midterm election in over 100 years.
I hope that 2020 brings even more people out to return the government to sanity.
Conversely, in Argentina it seems that the larger the turnout, the worse the outcome for the country.
Question: prisoners are allowed to vote while still serving their prison terms? -

Hahaha
Argentina is just to funny.....just read in this la nacion article that the ex and mother of Maximos children has turned lesbian..... hahaha....I think seriously most women would have, after seeing the mutant maxi in his undies.....
And imagine, u have these people run a province or a whole country, and they don't know if they like this or that...... hahaha god help us!

-
I fear u r gonna get disappointed in 2020 Rice hahaha
I’m hoping that the aberration vote in the US was a matter of temporary rather than permanent insanity.

Rice .....yes, it changed the legislation at some point! The crooks vote haha!
This was on La Nación after the PASO:
