I ask myself who is he trying to impress with this stuff? Has he totally lost it?

I agree with you, GlasgowJohn . It’s clearly asking too much to hope for any pretense of statesmanship or dignity from the former leader of the free world.
Is the BBC less concerned about what he is doing than about the crude way he talks about what he fantasizes about doing?

MAGA base is starting to ask not just if their leader is demonically possessed, but also if his assassination attempt was staged in order to win the 2024 election.
MAGA Is Increasingly Convinced the Trump Assassination Attempt Was StagedConspiracy theories about the Butler, Pennsylvania, shooting have ramped up in recent weeks as once steadfast Trump supporters turn on the president.www.wired.com -
Really!!!

Of all the groups to raise this sensitive topic, I’m floored that it would be MAGA insiders. Perhaps their reasoning is that war might not have been the only thing he was untruthful about?

I remember 5 years ago when gas in the USA increased to $3/gallon, suddenly stickers with Joe Biden saying “i did this!” started appearing at gas pumps all over the USA.
Yet prices are now 150% of that now-quaint price, and I’m not seeing the current president’s bragging face glued to the pumps.
Presidents are always blamed for gas prices, even when they are due to something beyond their control (OPEC’s cutting back the production of oil? Yes. Worldwide economic crises? Yes. Presidential policies? Rarely.). But in this case, trump decided to make war on Iran; they have choked off the world’s supply of oil, and the skyrocketing prices of fuel, heating oil, etc. all over the world are directly down to him.

I suspect there's more to it than meets the eye. Was chatting to my brother who's been through the Straits of Hormuz more times than he cares to remember. According to him Iran have threatened for years to start charging a fee for shipping to go through the straits. An easy earner considering its importance to the worlds economy. Start paying and they'll have you by the short and curlies.
