Thanksgiving Day in the United States is celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November every year, to give thanks for the year's harvest. The celebration is generally thought to have its origins in the 1621 feast by the Pilgrim Fathers at Plymouth in modern day Massachusetts, to acknowledge their survival of their first year in the New World after emigrating on the Mayflower in 1620.

The Pilgrim Fathers were Separatists who wanted to cut their ties with Protestant Church of England, because they believed that it had not rid itself of all Roman Catholic practices and as such was only only partially reformed. Following persecution for their beliefs, they had initially fled to the Netherlands, but later decided to go to America in order to obtain their religious freedom.

A Welsh connection to the Pilgrim Fathers is thought to have occurred at the mainly Welsh colony of Cambriol at Renews in Newfoundland, where according to local legend, the Mayflower stopped to pick up water and supplies before continuing on to Plymouth Rock. The colony had been founded in 1617, by Sir William Vaughan from Carmarthenshire, in response to the poor economic conditions in Wales, but was ultimately unsuccessful and failed in the early 1630's, due to the inadequate training of the colonists, raids by pirates and a lack of cooperation from French fishermen.

Not much, about everything is on the menu!!!!

Can't blame them! Later I have found a place that can make actual fries (UK chips) and I am addicted. I know it sounds incredible since potatoes are ubiquitous on Argentinian menus, but GOOD fried ones a rarity.

On the bright side, they also sell tapped weissbiere. I am a happy gal!

I have been blessed with a wonderful Thanksgiving Day!! My wife fixed dinner for her Sister and Husband,and we then had a very good visit, especially when wife's sister, drug out the old photos of my wife as a little girl. To top the day off my daughter and her family traveled up from Sumrall, MS, on their way to Hernando, we visited, and they made me drag out my old guitar and play and sing a few old gospel songs, we all knew.
