Douglas Rain, the voice of the HAL 9000 computer in 2001: A Space Odyssey died today aged 90.
A Canadian actor, he will always be remembered for this voice, although it's said that he never saw the completed film and was uncomfortable for being known for nine hours of voice-over being an accomplished Shakespearean actor.
