Amazing how Motherboards and PC's have evolved since my first purchase of a Gateway PC with W98 installed.

Getting online was easy peasy in 1984.

The image looks like a 3D architectural model. In fact, sometimes architecture search images in other sources, far from the usual ones.

Surely that was later than 1984?

An all new PC build using components from the 90s era and ready for Windows 98's 20th anniversary.

This takes me right back as I built quite a few back in those days, when you had to boot to a floppy disc just to get Windows 98 installed. Check out that floppy whirring and chirping.

This is what 128kb of RAM (memory) looked like back in 1988.

They were expansion cards and if you were lucky, you could achieve about 1Mb to play Commander Keen.

    (1024 kb = 1Mb)

Surely you meant kilobytes (KB) and megabytes (MB) and not bits?

Awesome pictures that bring back memories...

I believe that particular photo was taken at an archaeological site near Giza.

If you can get hold of the series, Halt And Catch Fire, it really is worth a watch and not just because the history of computing. It has drama in spades.

Yes it is a classic. Very good. Streaming On AMCPlus or you may be able to login for free to regular AMC if you have that channel with your cable provider in USA. *Maybe*

The first 1-2 seasons the fictional story reminded me a bit of the real story of great Pulitzer winner book by Tracy Kidder Soul of a new Machine (1982). If never read that the few pages of the prologue is the hook.
