The new Asus Crosshair Hero VIII motherboard, rumoured to be coming in at an eye watering $700. Just as well I bought its predecessor at around $300 last year.

LGR produces some great videos about older hardware and this is one set up I'd like to build, one day.

I still run XP for some software compatibility but for building a dedicated XP PC just for gaming??? I can think of more reasons and problems of why not to build a XP based PC platfrom than to build one.

Thinking about rebuilding one of my old desktop PC's. It is now running an Intel DP43BF MB and a Intel Pentium Dual Core E6700 cpu socket 775. This will

not be a gaming rig but I would like a decent mainstream PC. I would like to go with AMD MB and CPU, and it must have SLAT support. In other words I need

a cpu and mb that will run hyper-v. I know all Intel I3, I5, and I7 have this feature but I am not sure about AMD. Sure would value your input. Thanks Daniel.

You might want to read this article.

I believe all current AMD CPUs support this feature, although I couldn't get coreinfo to run on my system :scratchead:

Splinter ...Thanks will do some research. Would you have any preferences for the AMD cpu and mobo combo? I know I have ran coreinfo, but I could never get it to run on my PC.
