As a result of the G20 meeting in Bs As , Aeroparque will be closed to commercial traffic for three days from 29th November.
I agree security is important but this seems crazy . The traffic caos in the Capital will be crazy as well . Will pickets and protest be allowed?
Surely this meeting could have been held in Bariloche or somewhere else down south?

You’re right - Bariloche would have been a good choice. They could have had excellent security at the Llao Llao by simply blocking off the private road up the hill to the resort. And no traffic problems if they just kept the whole group sequestered up there in the rarified air.

The last time Argentina hosted a major event like this was in Mar del Plata in 2005 or 2007 I think. Perhaps they simply wanted to show off the capital, but I have no idea why they decided to shut down Aeroparque. Perhaps the US secret service insisted on it.

That's what I was thinking .
But AirForce One cant land at AEP…?

I thing that Air Force One can land at AEP.

Does hot air require a longer landing strip?

According to numerous sites, Air Force One needs at least 10,800ft for landing/take off, but:
"It can land on a 4,000 ft. runway but will need Full Reverse Thrust, and Hard Brakes. Not to mention Full Spoilers and Flaps 30."
Aeroparque is 6890 x 131 feet / 2100 x 40 meters, so it would be possible...just.

Perhaps Air Force One will have a nice bath in the brown waters of the Rio de la Plata.
