I only became aware of Red Shell ‘marketing attribution’ (tracking) spyware when reading reviews of Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 on Steam. The game was released in April this year and it's only because the appalling reviews that the developer CI Games finally released a patch which removes Red Shell from the game. So they've enjoyed 3 months of spying on gamers and didn't even have the decency to apologise either.
Twitter user #Daramulun has provided us with a list of devs who include this spyware in their games, but it seems that GDPR may have had a big part to play in it's removal.
This is pretty shameful behaviour in my view.
