I expect many of us remember where we were in 1989 since it was a momentous year in so many ways. The Berlin Wall came down, ushering in the fall of the Soviet Union and a greater sense of freedom.
In China however, the student protests were mercilessly squashed by a communist party that to this day will not tolerate any notion of freedom of expression.
