Mr Johnson, 56, exchanged vows with Ms Symonds, 33, in Catholic Westminster Cathedral in front of a handful of close friends and family.“

Congrats to both!
I can't believe that she's a millennial, she would have had to been born in the mid 90s to mid 00s
Millennials are people born between 1981 and 1987. So a 33 year old, born in 1988, is a millennial, perhaps around the age of some of his 6(?) children.
Wow, so I am a millennial!
From Wikipedia:
Oxford Living Dictionaries describes a millennial as "a person reaching young adulthood in the early 21st century."[44] Jonathan Rauch, senior fellow at the Brookings Institution, wrote for The Economist in 2018 that "generations are squishy concepts", but the 1981 to 1996 birth cohort is a "widely accepted" definition for millennials.[1]Reuters also states that millennials are "widely accepted as having been born between 1981 and 1996."[45]
Can someone explain to me why a lapsed Catholic who has been divorced twice can get married in a Roman Catholic Cathedral with the service being performed by the leading Archbishop of the country?
Has there been a change in the church rules that I haven't read about?
If the two previous marriages been secretly annulled, does that make his children, bastards?
One law for them and another for the rest of us.
This is the lame excuse from the church:

Although Mr Johnson, 56, has been married twice before, the Roman Catholic Church can allow divorcees to remarry if the previous marriages were outside the Roman Catholic Church.

So basically, he's settling down with her I guess. As in, he's not going to divorce and remarry again
The Catholic Church doesn’t recognize marriages by Catholics, performed outside of the church. It does recognize marriages by non-Catholics that were legitimately performed in accordance with their own churches’ rules, even if those people subsequently become Catholics.
So I guess in the eyes of the Church, if Boris’s previous unions were outside the Church, then technically he was never married.
As an almost 2000-year old entity, the Catholic Church probably has more laws, and more complex laws, than any existing country. Canon lawyers must be kept really busy.
So I guess in the eyes of the Church, if Boris’s previous unions were outside the Church, then technically he was never married.
So basically this most Cristian of churches is saying that his children from his previous legal unions are bastards......
So basically, he's settling down with her I guess. As in, he's not going to divorce and remarry again
I am sure the bookies will be laying some good odds on that possibility....
The Church wouldn’t blame the children. There was clearly a LEGAL union, just not a SACRAMENTAL one.
When people divorce, it wouldn’t occur to us to conclude that the children became bastards. Same with the overlay of a Church wedding.
BTW. GlasgowJohn , although I like the photo you posted far better, here’s the official one.
So basically, he's settling down with her I guess. As in, he's not going to divorce and remarry again
Give him a chance. They've only just tied the knot!
And it’s not easy for the poor guy: he’ll need to become familiar with the music, clothing, and culture of his kids’ generation. Not to mention the 21st century vocabulary or post-FB social media.
The Church wouldn’t blame the children. There was clearly a LEGAL union, just not a SACRAMENTAL one.
I await with interest the word of the Vatican on this one.
I understand that the Catholic Church views the Sacramental Union and the Legal Union as one and the same
The best meme I have seen....
I await with interest the word of the Vatican on this one.
Don’t hold your breath while awaiting comment from the Vatican -
