London goes into tier 4 soon
It's just like a national lockdown, except it's localised to certain areas of the South East

I lived 50 years in Scotland and not once had rain coming in any house I lived in. Here it's a yearly event. We've a bucket strategically placed in the dining room for such occasions. The guy who was supposed to fix it called off coming three times until the wife told him he could sod off!!

Trump Accuses Biden of Assaulting American People with Long Words
Andy BorowitzMarch 12, 2021
PALM BEACH (The Borowitz Report)—Donald J. Trump delivered a scathing review of Joe Biden’s first prime-time White House speech as President, accusing his successor of “assaulting the American people with long words.”
In a statement issued from his home at Mar-a-Lago, Trump ripped Biden for spewing a stream of words that were often three or four syllables.
Reeling off a list of the offensively long words in Biden’s speech, Trump singled out “hyperbole,” “administer,” and “effective.” “This should never be allowed to happen in this country,” he said.
“No one knows what these words mean, and no one will ever know,” Trump said.

If he says so! Too bad he can't launch the #stoplongwords hashtag now that is Twitter account has been suspended!

He too can be accused of using long words:
QuoteHorrible, tremendous, incredible, awesome, the most ever, beautiful, terrible, so sad, huge etc etc
Reminds of a teacher in kindergarten class.

Are these insane culture wars being stirred up in order to distract people from issues that actually matter?

Yes we can and we will.

Someone said to me on twitter, what about those who don't have biological parents, fair enough, but they can at least call them mother or father at their own choice

My father-in-law was telling me he was at the vegetable shop leaving with loads of bags. A woman approached from the other side of the door to enter. Because he needed to walk sideways out to wrestle the bags through the door, he said "come through the door senora". The woman got offended that he presumed he had the right to order her through the door. He got instantly angry told he to shove it and burshed passed her. He was making way for her for practical reasons more than macho domineering man reasons.
I guess now you either don't hold the door, or you have to say "would you like to enter before me, but if you do not I completely respect your decision as an independent and equal woman. But if you don't identify as a woman, I am also happy to call you by whatever pronoun you choose"
While it remains a minority push, the crusade some women are on to not demand equality but to actually defeat men is going to backfire spectaculalry. What a dumb society we have created over the last 20 years.

Yeah everywoman is equal or better than men until there's a bump in the night or you need to change a tire lol

I am not saying that.
My point is, the fight should be for true equality, which I think really means equal respect. However, that is not what the current fight is about, it is instead about defeating men and looking for a winner. I just think it misses the opportunity to explore the role of women and men in modern culture.
