The battery-powered personal watercraft, called an efoil, or electric hydrofoil, is popping up on waterways worldwide. When it gets up to speed, the short surfboard carries the rider a foot or so into the air for a quiet, smooth, exhilarating ride.
“It’s insanely fun,” says efoil instructor Matt Cook.
But at US $12,000, it’s not cheap. If you buy one, you’ll have something in common with Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg.
