Old TV caused village broadband outages for 18 months

    Made me laugh that someone was innocently watching TV, must have been a really old TV since flat panels AFAIK have shielding on them

  • Poor guy! Unfortunate that he was embarrassed by something he had no way of knowing. If an old tv can emit a signal interfering with the whole village’s broadband, shouldn’t the villagers have been told?


    I’m imagining being that clueless person, tucking into my morning coffee and tuning into BBC news, while unknowingly throwing everyone in the village off the internet!

    The person didn't know, some appliances like microwave can also cause disruption to the internet cabinet. What begs the question is, why is those internet cabinets kept so near to the house? Most are on the edges of the pavement just for that very reason, to stop interferences from household appliances
