We keep in the bank the minimum amount to cover planned expensed, like health insurance, car insurance, my La Nación subscription.
I think that's what most people do. Just one reason why this country is an economic joke.

Please don’t go into detail, in case Cristina or other burglars could be reading this.
In what way a big con?
To make us feel better for not stripping us of the right to buy a few measly dollars? So we feel grateful to them?
I think they are conning us with the message that nothing is going to change
Next month physical FX reserves will be non existent - they will not be able to give you any dollars if you buy them.
Unless , they have a secret plan September will be a major crisis for the economy - They can print more Pesos to keep going but they will totally ban ud from buying dollars.
The Blue Market will be our only possibility.
Headless chickens, or do they have a plan?

The solution is to print dollars. It will be called dolar contraparalelo. Yes, I've thought it all!
Bearing in mind the spread between the official rate of $102 and the blue of $184, I asked Adri if she was buying any USD through her bank at the official rate.
She laughed at me in a pitiful way.
It turns out that those who have received any kind of Covid 19 benefit whatsoever from the government is NOT entitled to buy USD through their bank, for which you have to jump through enough fucking hoops in the first place just to get your hands on two hundred measly dollars. Per month!!
I too am ineligible, so is her son, so is her 85 year old mother and so are hundreds of thousands of other people.
Why? Because we accepted financial assistance in the shape of low interest credit cards and other schemes to help people during lockdown. Naturally this was not mentioned initially, but the law was amended later, by which time it was too late.
Also, any company who accepted government Covid 19 assistance in the form of employee salary payments and other emergency schemes are not allowed to pay out any dividends. Again, this was not written into the deal at the outset, but sneakily inserted later when companies had already accepted the assistance.
It's no wonder so many Argentines distrust and loathe so many of their governments which they themselves elected. Marci was no better and his entire administration was simply an illusion that tried to paper over the cracks of Kirchnerism, but failed miserably.
Yip, we took the interest free loan for montributistas first time round and couldnt buy dollars - again, we found out after the event.
I'm sick of listening to the missus and her never-ending obsession with the US dollar. Nae wonder the country's permanently fucked!!

That's because the peso is worthless.
I too wondered why Argentines were so obsessed with the dollar and now I know. It's the only safe refuge for your cash.
Splinter , “Macri was no better?” Really?
He may have lifted currency controls - which had the knock on effect of draining the central bank of dollars by the way because of speculators - but taxes in this country remained some of the highest in the world.
And let's not forget the mess he left behind, so he won't be remembered as the saviour of Argentina's economic woes, a label he aspired to both during and after the elections.
He goes down as yet another false prophet in the long list of them haunting the corridors of power.

Indeed....the 100 billion dollar question is how can that be changed?
Easy to answer...it can't!!
I agree that his presidency was a failure, but I think we can’t forget the odds he faced in the 4 years he was given to try to combat decades of institutionalized corruption.

That's the way I see it.

He failed miserably in that as well, especially since he had every opportunity to put the guilty on trial, especially CFK with whom he eventually made a deal.
What was the deal Macri made with CFK?

That's Adri's supposition, but it does beg the question of why she will probably never be found guilty of anything.

I'm not so sure that was down to Macri....I suspect those who have influence in the judicial system are rotten to the core . In other words it would have been a complete waste of time.

I agree there. Macri may have had his hands tied.
