There is a feeling that more of the military have defected and accepted Guaido as their Commander-in-Chief. I hope it’s factual.
CNN reports that CNN Español has been made unavailable to the people of Venezuela. Perhaps local news has been, too. Maduro would find it advantageous to keep the citizens in the dark, unable to see the troop carriers plunging into the crowd of demonstrators. And unable to hear Guaido’s appeals for them to join him in overthrowing Maduro.
Internet cut for many and there are claims that the US was involved in some kind of deal for Maduro to make his exit.
That makes sense, because the Sec of State very casually announced that Maduro had been on a plane waiting to take off for Cuba earlier today, then changed his mind. Methinks Russia didn’t want their investment squandered, and perhaps made him a counter offer he, erm, couldn’t refuse?
Now it's a proxy war (as usual) between the two old enemies.
This can't end well in terms of the citizens of Venezuela, I mean. A short, sharp end is what is needed, without interference from anyone.
